At least 21 people died and another 72 were injured in the last 24 hours due to incidents related to monsoon rains in Pakistan, raising the death toll to 107 since the beginning of the season, authorities reported this Sunday.
According to data from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 14 of the deaths registered during the last day occurred in the eastern province of Punjab, four in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two in Sindh and one in the northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Punjab also concentrated the majority of the injured, with 64, while Sindh registered six and Baluchistan two, according to the official balance.
The rains have caused house collapses, electrocutions, sudden floods and infrastructure damage in several districts of the country.
In the last 24 hours, nine houses were completely destroyed and another 57 suffered partial damage, while 26 head of livestock died due to the rains and floods.

Since the beginning of the monsoon season, on June 26, the NDMA has registered 107 deaths and 344 injured throughout Pakistan.
The northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the most affected, with 55 deaths, followed by Punjab, with 36; Pakistan-administered Kashmir, with seven; Baluchistan, with six; Sindh, with two, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with one.
The NDMA also reported that the Emergency Response Committee met this Sunday to review preparedness and response to the monsoon.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast widespread rains between July 19 and 25 in different areas of the country last week, and on Friday warned of new rainfall with storms in southern and central areas, including Sindh province, until Monday.
Pakistan registers monsoon rains every year between June and September, but the growing irregularity and intensity of meteorological phenomena has increased the risk of sudden floods, landslides and infrastructure damage, especially in the mountainous areas of the north and northwest of the country.
