On Friday, over 50 businesses closed across the East End of Houston as part of the citywide shutdown for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. The day of action also included a rally at Hidalgo Park, followed by a mass march through Araujo’s neighborhood and to his memorial, the site where he was shot and killed by ICE. Protestors are demanding the names of the ICE agents who killed Araujo, the release of the witnesses, and an end to collaboration between ICE and the Houston Police Department. Community members are planning an organizing meeting on Sunday to continue the fight against ICE.
