Census aims to identify affected households, support permanent housing solutions and assess priority needs.
On Thursday, the government of Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez announced the launch of the “Unified Housing Registry” at temporary camps in Caracas.

Through this measure, authorities aim to conduct a comprehensive and reliable census of families whose homes were destroyed or damaged during the June 24 earthquakes. For the purposes of the census, authorities will count each affected housing unit independently, regardless of the number of families that lived in it.
The announcement of the census in Caracas was made during a meeting at the Guayana Esequiba Cultural and Sports Complex, attended by National Assembly Vice President Pedro Infante and Caracas Mayor Carmen Melendez.
On July 25, the registration drive will continue in Miranda state, first serving people staying in the temporary camps and then families relocated to other parts of the country or living with friends. In Chacao municipality, the registration of beneficiaries will be coordinated with Mayor Gustavo Duque because families have been relocated to hotels.
The Unified Housing Registry uses a fingerprint capture system that speeds up data collection to determine the number of homes that need to be built and to address priority labor and medical needs. Its goal is to ensure a permanent housing solution and guarantee clarity in the census of those affected.
On July 21, more than 240 families received fully furnished homes in Fuerte Tiuna, a military complex located in the southern part of Caracas’ Libertador municipality. That day, Acting President Rodriguez announced that 4,000 homes will be delivered to earthquake victims by the end of the year.
Subsequently, the Bolivarian government expects to exceed 10,000 housing solutions by 2027 through the completion of unfinished buildings, the purchase of properties on the secondary market, land reviews, and amendments to the Law on Leasing and Real Estate Guarantees to stimulate the rental housing supply.
