The Council of State examined on Wednesday, in an ordinary session, the implementation process of the economic and social transformations approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) during its Third Extraordinary Session, held on June 18.

The meeting was chaired by Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the Council of State and of the ANPP, and included the participation of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.
Within the framework of updating the model, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz reported that the 171 proposals and assessments made by the deputies during the parliamentary debate were processed. Likewise, the government’s work system was updated to focus efforts on implementing the measures.

The text reads, “The Minister of Justice, Rosabel Gamón, presented the legislative schedule and measures to guarantee the implementation of economic and social transformations at the ordinary session of the Council of State.”
In accordance with the ongoing regulatory improvements, the members of the Council of State adopted several decree-laws, five of them related to agriculture and one amending Law 109, the Road Safety Code, which will be published in the Official Gazette.
José Luis Toledo Santander, secretary of the legislature, elaborated on the proposal to repeal Law 183, so that it aligns with the five-year term stipulated in the Constitution.
The agenda included the review of the draft laws on the Labor Code, Agricultural and Forestry Land, Housing, Organization of the Central State Administration, and Personal Identity and Domicile System.
Esteban Lazo noted that the deputies analyzed these proposals in working sessions, which allowed them to be strengthened as part of the Cuban legislative process. Following the debate, the Council of State approved submitting the draft laws to the National Assembly for consideration during the Seventh Ordinary Session of its Tenth Legislature, scheduled to begin on July 29.
Finally, the body endorsed the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejecting the report published on July 20 by the U.S. State Department concerning Cuba’s alleged subversive influence against the United States.
