There will be no agreement until the U.S. guarantees respect for the Persian nation.
On Thursday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran has no problem with mediation involving the United States and that the obstacle in the negotiations is Washington’s “unreasonable and hegemonic approach,” which does not want to respect Iranian interests.

Araghchi made the remarks when asked about Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s visit to Washington a few days ago. Al-Zaidi was received Thursday in Tehran by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
“The Iraqi prime minister visited Washington, and it is natural for him to convey to us his views and perceptions from that trip; this is completely normal,” Araghchi said, adding that there are “multiple people” who can play the role of mediator and that Iran has no problem with messages being exchanged.
“The real problem is the irrational, excessive and authoritarian approach” of the United States, the Iranian diplomat said, reiterating that there will be no agreement until Washington guarantees respect for the Iranian nation.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran “is begging every day” Washington to “reach an agreement,” insisting that Tehran constantly sends Washington “messages through third countries,” without specifying which ones.
“The problem with Iran is that every time they reach an agreement… they break it or want to change it,” he said, asserting that Iran “will continue to pay the price” for prolonging the war and that the cost “goes up more and more every night.” He also affirmed that Iran “is running out of states” through which to send its alleged pleas.
Al-Zaidi, who met with President Donald Trump at the White House last week, was received Thursday by Pezeshkian at Sa’dabad Palace and also met with Araghchi and other senior officials.
The Iraqi leader’s visit to Tehran also comes amid the military escalation in the Middle East and Iran’s retaliatory attacks against several Persian Gulf countries and Jordan, actions that Baghdad has condemned in support of its Arab neighbors.
It also follows days of attacks against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq, which have left about a dozen people dead and injured.
