The decision was adopted in an extraordinary session of the Municipal Corporation, as flooding persists in various areas. The most critical situation is in communities near the Patuca and Kruta rivers, whose waters have overflowed into populated and agricultural areas.

Among the most affected communities are Baikan, Lakunka, Raksdiimwan, and Kanku, where water has covered homes, roads, and plots of corn, rice, cassava, and plantains, causing significant losses for local producers.

The evacuees include 19 men, 45 women, 44 girls, and 38 boys, while rescue operations continue by water, as many communities remain cut off by road.

The most severe impact is on the agricultural sector, with millions of dollars in losses to crops intended for family consumption and sale, which could affect food supplies in several communities in La Mosquitia.

Emergency teams continue to assess the damage to determine the total number of affected families and quantify the losses. Authorities urged residents near the Patuca and Kruta rivers to follow the recommendations of response agencies and evacuate promptly if conditions pose a danger to their lives.
