“They’re able to displace 2 million Palestinians from Gaza during the war, but they can’t remove 20 settlers. It doesn’t make sense.” On July 11, 2025, Palestinian American Saif Musallet was beaten to death by a mob of Israeli settlers on his family’s land near Sinjil in the occupied West Bank – he was visiting family from his home in Tampa, Florida, ahead of his 21st birthday. Saif survived the initial attack, but as he lay bleeding, Israeli soldiers and settlers blocked paramedics from reaching him for more than two hours, and he died before he made it to the hospital. Saif’s father Kamel Musallet was also attacked by settlers on the anniversary of his son’s murder when he tried to reach the land where Saif was killed. That’s because Saif’s murder was not an aberration — it’s the Israeli colonial system working as designed. Kamel tells BT Live that a full year after US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee proclaimed Saif’s murder a “criminal and terrorist act” and promised to get his family answers from Tel Aviv, no one has been held accountable for his son’s horrific death.
