Cuban President Accuses Washington of Using Falsehoods to Justify Aggression and Regime Change Efforts.
On Monday, President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez rejected the report on Cuba released by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, describing it as an instrument of “transnational neo-McCarthyism.”

Earlier, the U.S. Department of State published a 100-page document titled “Cuba, the Capital of Communism in the 21st Century,” which argues that the Caribbean nation poses a “unique threat” to U.S. national security.
It also accuses the Cuban government of seeking to “undermine, degrade and destabilize” Washington through spies, soldiers, students, intellectuals, and nongovernmental organizations.

In response to those new accusations, the Cuban President Diaz-Canel issued the following statement on social media:
“A thief believes everyone steals. Nothing could better characterize the State Department’s report against Cuba, promoted by one of the most corrupt officials in the current administration, with well-documented ties to drug traffickers and terrorists in Florida.
If any country has spied on and attacked another on an obscene scale, it has been the United States against Cuba. The multimillion-dollar allocations that are annually devoted to regime change programs in Cuba are public knowledge, resorting alike to subversion and terrorism.
History records criminal episodes, including plagues and diseases introduced into Cuba; hemorrhagic dengue that claimed the lives of 101 children; the downing of an airplane carrying 73 people on board; bombings of hotels; assassination attempts; and psychological warfare.
Add to that the blockade and the genocidal dimension it has acquired through its current tightening and the energy siege. There is no greater act of subversion against a state than the one conceived and officially described by the United States to exhaust the Cuban people and undermine their support for the Revolution.
What the Cuban Revolution has done throughout its history is defend itself against these successive and endless aggressions, exercising its legitimate right to do so. Cuba has never acted to harm the American people, nor has it sought to affect the national security of the United States.
The transnational neo-McCarthyism that is being reinstated in the United States, driven by a clearly fascist current, resorts to lies to generate pretexts for sustaining aggression against Cuba and restricting civil liberties in the United States.”
