On Monday, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez highlighted the fundamental role that the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) has played in search-and-rescue operations following the June earthquakes.

“Our FANB has been present throughout the recovery process, searching for survivors, removing debris, helping anyone in need and assisting at temporary camps,” she said.
As assistance to the victims of the natural disaster continues, Rodriguez began the final review of the lists for military promotions, a process she described as historic and transformative.
“Together with Defense Minister Gustavo Gonzalez and the FANB commanders, we are reviewing the promotions of officers who have demonstrated professionalism, discipline, commitment and loyalty,” she said.
“This recognition has special significance following the twin earthquakes, when our FANB was on the front lines, safeguarding lives and standing alongside our people during difficult times.”
“As commander in chief, it fills me with pride to recognize those who have served with honor, dedication and commitment. They are worthy heirs to the legacy of our father Simon Bolivar and are committed to building the Venezuela that we continue to strengthen,” Rodriguez concluded.
On Monday, the Venezuelan government updated the consolidated figures for operations carried out in response to the emergency caused by the earthquakes. So far, authorities have recorded 5,278 deaths and 16,740 injuries.
To assist the displaced population, the Rodriguez administration is operating 107 temporary camps that currently shelter 23,587 people, while 128,324 families have received direct assistance.
The logistical effort includes the deployment of 30,989 personnel, 31,745 volunteers and 2,278 international rescue workers.
