Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez delivered the first 200 fully equipped homes on July 20 to families left homeless by the devastating June 24 double earthquake that struck northwestern and central Venezuela.
Acting President Delcy Rodriguez personally handed over fully equipped houses in a new urban development this Monday, announcing that the Bolivarian State will deliver a total of 4,000 units between July and December to victims of the devastating June 24 double earthquake to accelerate recovery from the deadliest seismic event in the nation’s modern history.

Rodriguez personally toured the new urban development and spoke with beneficiary families, describing the delivery as “a moment of joy amid the pain” for those who were direct victims of the twin tremors. “More than 240 families are receiving a completely equipped home today,” she stated. “Between July and December we will be delivering 4,000 homes”, she affirmed.
The the departments awarded are hosted in towers J-01 and J-02 of the housing complex Ciudad Tiuna, located in the Simón Bolívar sector.

The housing units are part of the Venezuela’s Great Housing Mission Venezuela program, the state-run massive housing construction initiative launched in 2011 that has delivered millions of homes to low-income families. The new units come equipped with basic appliances, running water and electricity connections, allowing families to move in immediately without additional expenses.
For many of the beneficiaries, this marks the first stable shelter they have had since the catastrophic earthquakes of June 24.
The doublet earthquake caused widespread damage across multiple states, with the capital Caracas and particularly the state of La Guaira suffering the most severe destruction. In La Guaira, approximately 80% of buildings collapsed, trapping thousands under rubble and overwhelming rescue capacities. As of late July, official figures confirm 5,208 people killed, 16,700 injured and tens of thousands still reported missing.

4,000 Homes Pledged
The housing delivery is the central pillar of the government’s medium-term recovery strategy. Between July and December, the state will distribute 4,000 homes to families whose residences were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable by the seismic event. The plan prioritizes families with the most vulnerable members -the elderly, children and those with injured or missing relatives.
Acting President Rodriguez emphasized that the housing program will continue to expand as new urban developments are completed across the affected regions. The government has mobilized military engineering battalions and civil construction brigades to accelerate rebuilding in the hardest-hit areas, particularly in La Guaira, Yaracuy, Carabobo and the Capital District.
Beyond housing, recovery efforts have included the deployment of field hospitals, mobile water purification units and food distribution centers across affected zones. The government has also established a Special Economic Zone in the worst-hit areas to fast-track reconstruction projects and attract investment for infrastructure rehabilitation.
The delivery of the first 240 homes represents a tangible milestone in what officials acknowledge will be a multi-year recovery process. For the families receiving keys this Monday, however, it marks the end of almost a month of living in temporary shelters and the beginning of a return to normalcy.
