More than 62,000 responders remain deployed as authorities continue assistance for over 128,000 affected families.

Venezuela has intensified emergency operations for communities affected by the two earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, according to an official government update released on Sunday.

Authorities said more than 62,000 people, including security personnel, volunteers and international rescue workers, are participating in the humanitarian response to support more than 128,000 affected families.

The latest official report states that 39,935 patients have received medical care through emergency health facilities established after the disaster. Authorities also reported the distribution of 10,964 tonnes of food and more than 35.6 million liters of drinking water to affected communities.

According to the update, 23,820 people are currently housed in 107 temporary camps created to shelter the 17,907 people who lost their homes.

The government said the earthquakes left 16,740 people injured and 5,208 dead. Venezuela’s Institute of Seismology has also recorded 1,388 aftershocks since the June 24 disaster.

Officials reported that 6,462 people have been rescued so far. Emergency operations continue with 2,278 rescue workers remaining in the country alongside more than 31,745 volunteers deployed across affected areas.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez: “Every effort is necessary”

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez reaffirmed the government’s commitment to assisting affected families in a message released on Sunday, which coincided with Children’s Day in Venezuela.

“Today, the youngest are celebrating their day in the temporary camps. Every effort is necessary to ease the pain of the families affected by the double earthquake and accompany them during this difficult moment,” she said.

She also shared a testimonial video through her official Telegram account featuring footage recorded on July 19 at temporary shelters established for families displaced by the June 24 earthquakes.

“Our boys and girls guide every step we take. Venezuela will rise again!”
