The centerpiece of the event will be led by the internationally renowned Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel. In an unprecedented collaboration, the maestro will simultaneously conduct the New York Philharmonic and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. This marks the first time in musical history that both institutions will share a single conductor’s baton.

The symbolic fusion of the two orchestras represents the bridge between the host continent and the suffering nation, in an unique ensemble will unite North American and South American cultural traditions on the same stage. The performance seeks to honor the victims of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela last June 24, which left 5,069 people dead and 16,740 injured.

According to the official organizers, the primary objective of this presentation is threefold. First, the event will pay tribute to the thousands of victims who lost their lives or homes due to the seismic disasters. Second, the concert aims to transmit a global message of resilience and hope. Third, the initiative actively supports fundraising efforts for the reconstruction of affected Venezuelan communities.

Global Solidarity Concert

Gustavo Dudamel has built an extraordinary career as a cultural ambassador for Venezuela. Born in Barquisimeto, he rose to fame through “El Sistema” (The System), the renowned Venezuelan music education program. His leadership of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra became a symbol of the country’s cultural excellence worldwide. Today, he serves as music director of the New York Philharmonic.

This dual role makes him the perfect bridge between the two nations. His presence on the stage of the World Cup 2026 final carries deep symbolic weight, representing Venezuelan talent and resilience before a global audience of billions.

The Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra traveled directly from Venezuela to participate in the event. Several members of the orchestra lost family members or homes in the earthquakes,so their participation transforms the musical piece into a testimony of survival and collective strength.

Global Citizen will manage the fundraising component during the halftime show. The organization will use the global broadcast to direct viewers toward donation platforms, which will support emergency relief, housing reconstruction and medical assistance for affected communities.
