Washington has maintained an economic and commercial blockade against Cuba for more than six decades.
On Thursday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced a U.S. media campaign aimed at justifying a military adventure against the island and called it psychological warfare.

He stated that the leaks about invasion plans are intended to gauge U.S. public opinion regarding a military action that would provoke “a bloodbath” without credible justification.
The diplomat reiterated that “Cuba is not a threat” and questioned how the island could pose a danger to “the world’s greatest military and nuclear power,” alluding to U.S. intelligence agencies.
He also denounced the fabrication of “mendacious pretexts” against Cuba, especially from South Florida, as a business for “discredited and corrupt” politicians who profit from the suffering of the Cuban people.

Washington has maintained an economic and commercial blockade against Cuba for more than six decades, reinforced during President Donald Trump’s second term, beginning in January 2025, with measures amounting to “total strangulation.”
These measures include threats such as the use of force, military deployments, and restrictions on oil supplies, which affect essential services such as health, education, transportation, and tourism.
Meanwhile, Trump fueled expectations by declaring that “a lot of things are going to happen in Cuba in the next, maybe, two months,” without offering details, dismissing any parallels with Venezuela and its strategic resources.
