The Avanguardia – La Festa 2026, organized by the Fronte Comunista (Communist Front) and the Fronte della Gioventù Comunista (Communist Youth Front), concluded on 12 July after five days of political and cultural activities at the Circolo ARCI Concetto Marchesi in the working-class district of Tiburtino III, on the outskirts of Rome.

The festival, held from 8 to 12 July, featured political debates, book presentations, concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, a popular kitchen, and other cultural initiatives, all with free admission and affordable prices.

In a statement marking the conclusion of the festival, the organizers described the five-day event as an opportunity to “taste the flavour of the more just society that we want to build together.” They stressed that Avanguardia continues to take shape in Tiburtino III, a working-class neighbourhood neglected by public institutions and by a system driven exclusively by the pursuit of profit, demonstrating the importance of collective organization in creating spaces for culture, solidarity and political engagement.

The organizers emphasized that this year’s edition once again proved that a festival combining popular cuisine, quality music, photographic exhibitions, political debates and information stands can remain accessible to all. They reaffirmed their determination to build on this year’s success through the daily struggles carried out by the Fronte Comunista and the Fronte della Gioventù Comunista throughout the year.

Concluding their statement, the organizers thanked the artists, speakers, volunteers, stand organizers and all those who contributed to making this year’s festival possible. Reaffirming the close connection between political commitment and collective social life, they invited participants to meet again “in the struggles” before next year’s edition.
