“Collaborating with ICE is collaborating with Jim Crow and white supremacy.” Actor and Houston native Kendrick Sampson blasted city councilmembers at Tuesday night’s meeting, the first since ICE killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, the 52-year-old father killed at a traffic stop while driving to work on the morning of July 7. Sampson asked the council point-blank: “Why aren’t you protecting us? Where do you draw the line?” Over 100 residents signed up to speak at the meeting, demanding an independent investigation into the shooting and accountability for Araujo’s death.
