During an inspection at the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base in La Carlota, Delcy Rodríguez verified the reception and distribution of 35 metric tons of humanitarian supplies provided by the Russian government. She was joined by Health Minister Carlos Alvarado and Russian Ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.

The delivery officially marked the start of Russia’s humanitarian assistance to Venezuela, strengthening logistical and institutional cooperation between the two countries in support of the emergency response.

According to authorities, the shipment includes 9.5 metric tons of non-perishable food, including rice and canned protein; 4.5 metric tons of medical supplies, including laboratory kits and insulin units; and 21 metric tons of personal care items, bedsheets, hoses, dewatering pumps, and 30 large family tents capable of temporarily sheltering up to 300 people.

International Relief Efforts Continue

Acting president also visited a humanitarian cooperation camp in the Brisas de Maiquetía housing complex, in the Urimare parish of La Guaira state, where humanitarian assistance from Türkiye is being received.

During the visit, she reviewed rehabilitation and comprehensive assistance efforts benefiting 659 families affected by the June 24 earthquakes. She was accompanied by Türkiye’s Ambassador Naci Aydan Karamanoğlu, along with national and regional authorities.

Authorities highlighted the work of community brigades and specialized personnel coordinating recovery efforts under the Venezuela Rises (Venezuela Renace, in Spanish) program to restore the 20 residential towers that make up the housing complex.

During the tour, Delcy Rodríguez expressed gratitude, on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to the Turkish government for being the first country to offer assistance during the emergency.

She also awarded the “Heroes of Venezuela” Order to 75 Turkish rescue workers and their specialized search dogs for supporting Civil Protection operations during the emergency response, describing the recognition as a symbol of solidarity between the two countries.
