The July 7 ICE killing of 52-year-old Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo has sparked protests across the country. Salgado Araujo was on his way to work when unmarked vehicles surrounded the vehicle and opened fire. Three others, including a family member of Salgado Araujo, were taken into DHS custody during the incident. Salgado Araujo’s family are calling for an independent investigation into the incident. ICE detained over 10,000 people last week amid a sweeping immigration crackdown.
