On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denounced the aggressive nature of the European countries participating in the Paris summit, where leaders are proposing to strengthen military support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia.

“I would say this is a coalition of warmongers. It is a group of countries that do not want peace but rather the continuation of the war. They are deeply mistaken about the possibility of inflicting a strategic defeat on our country,” he said.
“They are therefore a coalition of people living under illusions and of war instigators,” Peskov emphasized, adding that Russia would continue to monitor developments in Paris very closely because “these are countries that are taking hostile actions against us.”

The Paris meeting will address issues including strengthening Ukraine’s air and missile defense, the possibility of a ceasefire, and the resumption of peace negotiations that have been stalled since February.
The summit, which will be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, will also advance plans for the Multinational Force for Ukraine (MNFU), under French-British leadership, whose deployment is categorically rejected by Russia.
On June 7, Macron, Zelensky, Starmer and Merz issued a joint statement calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin to accept an immediate and full ceasefire, begin negotiations based on the current line of contact, and provide security guarantees for Ukraine, including the deployment of multinational troops.
They also warned Russia that its assets in the West will remain frozen until it permanently ends its military actions in Ukraine and pays the corresponding reparations to its neighboring country.
