In a statement, the Houthi foreign ministry affirmed its support for the Islamic Republic of Iran “with all means at its disposal” as part of the “Axis of Resistance.”

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war in late 2023, Houthi rebels have launched missiles and drones against Israel and attacked merchant and US Navy ships in the Red Sea, arguing that the attacks are carried out “in solidarity” with the Palestinians.
In the last week, the Houthis have also intensified their political support for Tehran amid disputes over direct flights between Tehran and Houthi-controlled Sana’a, despite strong objections from the internationally recognized Yemeni government, based in the coastal city of Aden, which has accused the rebels of undermining Yemen’s sovereignty.
