Emergency shipment includes food for immediate distribution to communities affected by the June 24 earthquakes.

Iran has delivered 160 tons of humanitarian assistance to Venezuela to support communities affected by the June 24 earthquakes, with the shipment arriving directly at the port of La Guaira, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil announced.

According to Gil, the cargo includes 40 tons of food packaged into ready-to-distribute kits for people affected by the disaster. The supplies are being received and processed at Mercal’s distribution center before being dispatched to impacted areas.

Gil said the rapid handling and distribution of the aid is made possible by the logistics infrastructure developed under the Bolivarian Revolution during the administration of Commander Hugo Chávez.

The delivery follows a statement issued on June 25 by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei through Telegram, expressing solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government and reaffirming Iran’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance for search and rescue efforts.

Venezuelan authorities said the arrival of the shipment reflects ongoing humanitarian cooperation between countries that maintain active channels of mutual assistance during emergencies.

According to the latest official figures, the June 24 earthquakes have claimed 3,889 lives, injured 16,740 people and affected more than 856 buildings.
