IRGC says missile and drone operation responded to U.S. attacks on Iran and warns further action could follow.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a joint missile and drone operation targeting U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, describing the attacks as the first phase of its response to recent U.S. strikes on Iranian territory.

IRGC announces strikes on U.S. military facilities
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Office, the IRGC said its naval and aerospace forces targeted infrastructure and facilities at U.S. military bases in Kuwait, including Arifjan and Ali al-Salem, as well as Juffair and Sheikh Isa facilities in Bahrain.
The statement said the operation was carried out in response to what the IRGC described as U.S. violations of commitments and acts of aggression against Iran.
The IRGC also warned that if U.S. military operations continue, its response would expand to other American bases across the region.

U.S. attacks cited as trigger
The announcement came after the United States launched a new wave of attacks on multiple locations across Iran.
According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Tehran, the strikes were the largest carried out by the United States against Iran since the signing of the memorandum of understanding, with Chabahar Port in southern Iran sustaining the heaviest attacks.
Iranian reports said the strikes hit civilian infrastructure at Chabahar Port, damaging two maritime piers and a navigation control tower. They also reported that shrapnel from U.S. projectiles struck Imam Ali Hospital in the city.
Additional strikes were reported in Bushehr Province, Sirik, Jask, Abu Musa Island and transport infrastructure in northern Iran.
The IRGC also said US attacks targeted two bridges in eastern Iran leading toward Mashhad, accusing Washington of attempting to overshadow the funeral procession and farewell ceremonies for Iran’s martyred leader.
Regional tensions deepen
The IRGC said the operation against U.S. military facilities was launched hours after the American attacks.
Before the announcement, Iranian media reported explosions near U.S. military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait. Mehr News Agency said loud explosions were heard near the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, while Tasnim News Agency reported powerful blasts near U.S. military bases in Kuwait.
Iranian media also reported that sirens were activated at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, where U.S. forces are stationed.
Iranian officials reiterated previous warnings that any U.S. military action would trigger retaliation.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington must understand that “bullying and reneging on commitments are no longer without consequences,” adding, “If you strike, you will be struck back.”
Ghalibaf also said the Strait of Hormuz would only be opened through “Iranian arrangements,” rather than through U.S. threats.
The latest escalation came after a U.S. official told CNN that the ceasefire with Iran had “at least temporarily ceased,” while adding that further U.S. strikes had not been ruled out.
