Mexico City. “We cannot allow the mistreatment of our brothers and sisters who are in the United States, which is why we are preparing ‘more significant legal measures,’ to go ‘beyond diplomatic notes‘” and beyond the complaint before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed, after another Mexican citizen was shot dead by an agent of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Houston.
“We are proposing other measures, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will present,” because “they answer us” on the ones we have taken so far, “but in any case there is another regrettable death of a fellow citizen in the United States over detention matters, when their only offense is not having papers, even though they were hired by a U.S. company.”
She affirmed that those in that situation “have no reason to be in detention centers, nor (should) violence be used (against them). So, yes, we are preparing obviously more significant legal measures.”
