Cuba's congrats to Union of the Comoros on independence anniversary

Havana, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Foreign Ministry congratulated the people and government of the Union of the Comoros on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of its independence.

“Cuba and the Comoros are united by ties of friendship and cooperation,” the Foreign Ministry stated on the social network X.

The Comoros fell under full French control in 1913 and officially became a colony of the European nation.

By 1972, the demand for independence had begun to rise sharply, driven by opposition parties that had launched vigorous anti-colonial activities.

On July 6, 1975, the Comoros gained independence from France.
