In recent years, British right wingers have had a favourable attitude towards the police. The way this manifested was that the police would crack down on protesters, and the right would cheer them on. In recent months, however, the right have discovered that having a largely unanswerable police force could also impact them.
This is why we’re seeing posts like the following from professional divorcee Laurence Fox:
There is a reckoning coming for these pig scum and no number of hi viz jackets, batons and pepper spray are going to save you.

Police violence
Commentators like Mukhtar screengrabbed Fox’s words – potentially anticipating him deleting at a later date:

In the video Fox shared, a small horde of police officers are breaking up a disturbance. In the background, several officers are making an arrest, although it’s unclear what for. As the cameraman films, one police officer sprays what seems to be a young girl in the face; another takes their baton out.
All in all, then, pretty standard stuff if you’ve ever been at the scene of something like this. Is this us saying these scenes are ‘good’? It’s certainly not, no, and if you look back through our 11 years of content, you’ll find many stories decrying police violence, including:
- A woman tried to protect others from police violence. Today she was sentenced to prison.
- Shocking footage reveals ongoing police violence against protesters – and how they joke about it.
- Woman was ‘terrified’ during arrest at Sarah Everard vigil.

Laurence Fox was one of those who commented on the above:
This all happened a month after many on the British right celebrated the police repeatedly kicking a suspect in the head:
Serious question, what exactly should officers do when someone is armed and poses an immediate threat?
From where I’m sitting, they acted quickly and likely prevented further harm.

As we reported on the above arrest:
On Wednesday 29 April, Essa Suleiman allegedly stabbed three men — two Jewish and one Muslim, in Golders Green. At the time of the attack, Suleiman was living in supported housing, having previously been detained in a secure hospital. Suleiman has a history of mental illness, and was referred to Prevent in the past.
The initial response was to label the incident an ‘antisemitic terror attack’, with the government raising the threat level in response. In light of the above information coming out, however, these moves would later seem to be premature.
So, where did it all go wrong for the British right and the “pig scum”?
Fallout
The British right have been increasingly bold in their attempts to stir up racial hatred and violence. In recent months, this has seen:
- Figures like Tommy Robinson celebrating pogroms on British streets.
- Politicians like Nigel Farage capitalising on the Henry Nowak case to encourage “cold, hard rage“.
- Restore Britain publishing its ‘Rape Gang Inquiry Report‘ which contained made-up statistics about the number of white women raped (among other problems).
Following all this, we’ve seen:
- White riots in which angry supremacists target people of colour.
- Attacks on Mosques.
- Attacks on Muslims.
One of the white rioters was recently jailed for hurling a frying pan at the police:
36-year-old Ryan Atkinson, who’s an ex-soldier, has been jailed for two years at Southampton Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to violent disorder during the riots.

And there’ll be more arrests too. Because when politicians and activists talk up race wars, people will take to the streets to enact them.
In other words, the relationship between the far right and the police is broken – for now at least. It could be mended if an equally far-right government comes in, but that doesn’t bare thinking about.
