These teams participated in search and rescue operations following the earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 on 24 June. The event also included an exchange of letters of thanks and highlighted collaboration between the canine units of Venezuela and Colombia.
During a ceremony at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro Operations Base, located at the La Guaira baseball stadium, rescue brigades from Germany, Chile, Bolivia, the Czech Republic, Jordan, Slovakia, and Colombia received official recognition for their humanitarian aid after the seismic movements.
At the event, an exchange of thank you letters took place, and the joint work of the Venezuelan-Colombian canine units was highlighted.
The acting head of state has repeatedly expressed her personal gratitude and that of the Venezuelan people to the citizens of dozens of countries who came to the South American nation to help those affected by the two powerful earthquakes that shook northern Venezuela on June 24.
On this occasion, the decorated delegations registered the following technical and human deployment: Jordan, with 107 rescuers and six canines; Czech Republic, with 69 rescuers and eight canines; Colombia, with 67 rescuers and four canines; Spain, with 67 rescuers and five canines, and Portugal, with 62 rescuers and six canines.
Similarly, recognition was given to contingents from Chile, with 45 rescuers; Lithuania, with 44 rescuers; Germany, with 27 rescuers; Bolivia, with 20 rescuers; Slovakia, with 20 rescuers and four canines, and the Dominican Republic, with 19 rescuers.
The authorities delivered a letter addressed to the Government of Bolivia through Lieutenant Colonel Vargas. The Ambassador of Colombia in Venezuela, Milton Rengifo Hernández, received a distinction in recognition of his on-site coordination efforts.
According to the Presidential Press report, rescue teams from Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Türkiye, and Vietnam are grouped in the port facilities of La Guaira.
The ceremony included formal recognition for the operational work of mission chiefs and outstanding specialists, including Walter Fonseca and Luis Salas from Costa Rica; Lieutenant Colonel Rubén Pupo from Cuba; Roberto Cortéz from El Salvador; Brigadier General Alejandro Gómez from Mexico; Reyes Jiménez from Panama, and Brigadier General Mehmet Bahtiyar along with Haluk Erten from Türkiye.
