In a video posted on Instagram, the artist stated: “I am proud to share that the Fund will allocate $500,000 to support organizations in Venezuela that are helping children whose education has been disrupted by this terrible tragedy.”

Shakira invited local organizations to apply for funding to help children and teachers return to school, restoring access to education amidst the emergency.

The singer highlighted that leaders such as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney have already joined the campaign and called on others such as Luis Montenegro (Portugal), Emmanuel Macron (France), and Friedrich Merz (Germany) to unlock resources for educational recovery.

The text reads, “Shakira raises her voice again for education. Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, she called for support for educational recovery so that thousands of children can continue learning. A legacy that transforms lives.”

Venezuela suffered two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, which left at least 2,595 dead and 12,400 injured, prompting international donation campaigns and aid efforts for the victims.

In an open letter, former political leaders from Austria, Sweden, New Zealand, and Ireland endorsed the initiative, noting that children require comprehensive support to benefit from education.

On July 19, during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, produced by Global Citizen and curated by Coldplay, Shakira will perform alongside BTS and Madonna, singing “Dai Dai,” the official song that connects music and early childhood education.
