So far Spain has raised more than 10 million euros in humanitarian aid, sent planes with essential supplies, and mobilized one million euros through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

On Thursday night, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez confirmed that the death toll rose to 2,595 and the number of injured to 12,400. She highlighted the presence of rescuers from 33 countries and the rescue of 6,462 people.

Rodriguez also called the accusations of a supposed lack of deployment of security forces “despicable,” asserting that they are attempts to politicize the emergency. Currently, she is in talks with the U.S. State Department and the IMF to recover funds earmarked for reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme (WFP) announced that it will assist half a million people in Venezuela for three months, providing emergency food aid to the most affected communities, especially in the coastal state of La Guaira.
