Jason Watson participated in Removal Coalition news conference before being detained.
On Wednesday, U.S. Air Force Maj. Jason Watson was arrested on the steps of the Capitol, where he was calling for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

Wearing his military uniform, he took part in a news conference organized by the Removal Coalition, an organization advocating for the removal of the MAGA leader.
“During his remarks, he criticized the Trump administration’s recent foreign policy decisions, particularly the military actions in Venezuela and Iran, as well as the tightening of immigration measures, arguing that they violate the U.S. Constitution,” the outlet La Silla Rota reported.
“For that reason, the president and the vice president must be impeached, found guilty and removed from office,” he said shortly before he was arrested by Capitol Police, who alleged that Watson was committing offenses involving obstruction and disorderly conduct.

“The service member was instructed to end the demonstration because protests on the steps of the House of Representatives are permitted only when a member of Congress remains present throughout the event. Later, an official with the Superior Court of Washington said he would be released and that no criminal charges would be filed against him,” La Silla Rota reported.
Besides shocking mainstream narratives, Maj. Watson’s actions could have consequences that extend beyond the immediate moment because of their bold nature.
“Public expressions of political disagreement by active-duty military personnel are uncommon because of the restrictions imposed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Article 88 penalizes contemptuous statements by commissioned officers directed at the president, the vice president, Congress and other senior officials,” the Mexican outlet recalled.
Removal Coalition founder Jessica Denson said Watson was fully aware of the potential consequences of appearing publicly in military uniform.
“I just left the Capitol, and I was there to witness a major in the United States Armed Forces bend the arc of the moral universe toward justice,” said Rep. Al Green, the Texas Democrat.
