Supporters rallied outside the Diane E. Murphy federal courthouse in Minneapolis Wednesday, after fourteen of the “Minnesota 15” pleaded not guilty to federal conspiracy charges brought by the Trump administration in connection with anti-ICE organizing in the Twin Cities during Operation Metro Surge. One defendant remains in custody in Michigan on other federal charges and did not appear. Charges include conspiracy to impede a federal officer, multiple counts of interstate stalking, interstate threats, solicitation to commit a crime of violence, multiple counts of assault on a federal officer, and destruction of government property. Federal prosecutors dropped multiple cases with similar charges against other Twin Cities protesters earlier this year, due to lack of evidence and prosecutorial misconduct.
