Her agenda has prioritized reviewing operational capacity, medical supply availability and the condition of facilities mainly related to the “frontline response” for pediatric emergencies and care for older adults.

As part of the direct monitoring effort, Rodriguez has maintained direct contact with medical personnel, patients, and family members in order to immediately address any logistical or health care needs.

“We continue to stand with affected families and directly oversee response and recovery efforts in La Guaira… The National Government remains fully deployed, working in coordination with all state agencies,” she said.

“We are deeply grateful for the solidarity shown by countries, organizations and international teams that have stood by Venezuela during these days. Their support reminds us that we are not alone. With unity, solidarity, and hard work, we will overcome this tragedy and move forward,” Rodriguez added.

Spain Deploys Emergency Field Hospital Team to Venezuela

On Wednesday, Anton Leis, director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, confirmed that a plane carrying 44 volunteers departed for Valencia, Venezuela, to set up a field hospital.

“We are going to deploy primarily in the areas where displaced people have lost their homes. The objective of the hospital is to support Venezuela’s health care system in response to the surge in needs,” Leis said.

The volunteers are members of the Technical Team for Aid and Emergency Response (START), which is deploying a field hospital with the capacity to treat 100 patients per day. They will focus primarily on primary health care and psychological support for victims. START includes two surgeons and trauma specialists.

The plane is also carrying 20 members of other NGOs, including Medecins du Monde, according to Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, who also announced that Spain will provide an additional 300,000 euros (US$353,000) to Venezuela for shelter supplies.
