It denounces a “predatory imperialism” that uses economic blackmail and trade blockades.
On Tuesday, the Italian newspaper Il Faro di Roma published an editorial titled “Cuba in the Crosshairs of the New Imperialism,” condemning the United States’ siege of Cuba and labeling it fascist.

The authors, analysts Luciano Vasapollo and Rita Martufi, recalled the vision of the Cuban historical leader Fidel Castro, who warned that contemporary fascism does not present itself in the classic forms of the 20th century.
According to the editorial, the transformations of capitalism and imperialism adopt new political, economic, and media configurations, but maintain their function intact: to defend the dominance of capital against popular emancipation.
The authors, co-founders of the Italian chapter of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH), pointed out that current fascism manifests itself as financial technocracy, authoritarian neoliberalism, or aggressive nationalism.

In the case of Cuba, the pressures from the United States are not a normal diplomatic dispute but a systematic offensive with characteristics of imperialist fascism, aimed at breaking the people’s resistance.
The editorial denounces a “predatory imperialism” that uses economic blackmail, trade blockades, information manipulation, and constant destabilization as tools of aggression against the island, intensified through extraterritorial measures for more than sixty years.
These actions constitute a “permanent economic war,” whose objective is to create shortages of medicine, energy, and food, hinder productive development, and financially isolate Cuba as a strategy of political pressure.
The text also highlights the resistance of the Cuban people, who continue to defend an alternative system based on health, education, culture, and international solidarity.
