Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez stated that search and rescue operations are continuing with the support of 3,681 rescuers and 118 search dogs from 30 countries.
So far, Cuban Foreign Ministry has confirmed that two Cuban nationals, Lupercio Adrian D’Perez and the minor Vanessa Martinez, died during the earthquakes.
“The information is scattered and imprecise, and it is not officially possible to confirm the various reports circulating on digital platforms. With the utmost rigor and while seeking to ensure the greatest possible accuracy, the investigation continues in order to inform, as a priority, the family members,” said Ana Gonzalez, director of Consular Affairs and Assistance to Cubans Living Abroad.
According to the latest official figures, the twin earthquakes have left at least 1,719 people dead, as well as 5,034 injured, 15,866 displaced and 855 buildings damaged, of which 189 suffered total collapse.
