In March, BP locked out 800+ @usw7_1 steelworkers in Whiting, Indiana after contract negotiations stalled. They then replaced the experienced union staff with scabs, who workers say are creating unsafe conditions at the refinery and surrounding areas. But the Chicago community is fighting back. Hundreds – including reps from the Chicago Teachers Union and local community groups – showed up on Friday at a solidarity rally for the workers, who continue to demand a fair contract and an end to BP’s union-busting.
