An 11-year-old boy was pulled alive from the rubble in the coastal city of Caraballeda shortly before midnight on Saturday, acting President Delcy Rodríguez confirmed.

This marks the second rescue of a minor that day in La Guaira state—the area worst affected by Wednesday’s twin earthquakes.

Acting President Rodríguez announced the rescue on her social media accounts, posting a video that showed members of the Mexican Army, who had deployed to the South American nation to assist in survivor recovery operations, participating in the effort.

“In these hours, every life is hope for Venezuela,” she wrote.

Earlier on Saturday, brigades from Colombia’s National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (Ungrd) had already rescued another 11-year-old, named Moisés, who was trapped inside a building in Los Corales, also in La Guaira state.

According to the official balance, the earthquakes have left 1,430 people dead, more than 3,238 injured, and over 3,100 citizens who have lost their homes entirely.
