The measure authorizes the immediate deployment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) in La Guaira, a state that was declared a disaster zone after being the hardest-hit region by the earthquakes.
Rodriguez announced that the removal of debris from roads has restored mobility for rescue brigades, public security forces and military personnel throughout La Guaira.
The effort is facilitating logistical supply operations and allowing the large-scale distribution of drinking water and food to meet the needs of residents.
The deployment includes the delivery of 2,600 tons of essential supplies, including protein products and dry goods, with instructions to meet basic supply targets within 24 hours in order to provide immediate support to 69,000 affected families in La Guaira.
The emergency in the coastal state was caused by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck at 6:04 p.m. local time and was followed 39 seconds later by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake.
