The competition, named CienLabs Innova, brought together undergraduate and graduate students from Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, and Computer Engineering, who proposed scalable solutions for local industry.

The event focused on open innovation in STEM fields, strengthening skills in high-pressure environments, and contributing to Sustainable Development Goals 9 (Industry and Innovation) and 17 (Partnerships).

The jury, chaired by the university rector, Dr. Orquidea Urquiola Sanchez, evaluated the proposals and highlighted the quality of the presentations.

The Grand Prize went to Jesus Rafael Garcia Lorenzo (Chemical Engineering) and Leidy Laura Moreno (Industrial Engineering). Second place went to Eber Perez Lima (Mechanical Engineering) and Gabriela de la Caridad Lozano Nodal (Industrial Engineering), while third place was awarded to Yuliet Soca Garcia (Industrial Engineering) and Jarold Abraham Muniz Cardenas (Mechanical Engineering).

InnoLabs is an international initiative funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program. The project brings together universities and organizations from Spain, Belgium, Cuba, and Ecuador to create Entrepreneurship and Innovation Laboratories that foster collaboration among academia, local communities, public institutions, and the private sector.

The winning proposals will be evaluated for potential implementation within the university and industrial sectors of central Cuba.
