William Prince

William Prince is a true road warrior who has been on tour much of the year and will continue into the winter. The award-winning singer songwriter from Peguis First Nation is performing a number of showcase events this summer including the FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies in Toronto on June 12.

Elisapie

Award winning Inuk artist Elisapie has been creating her own intoxicating mélange of traditional, folk, electronic and rock for over two decades, winning a Juno in 2005 and again in 2023. She was also shortlisted twice for the Polaris prize and was a Felix Award winner for Indigenous Artist of the Year.

Winnipeg Folk FestivalBirds Hill Park, July 9-12

Winnipeg Folk Festival is celebrating its 52nd year and continues to support artists from various genres including a number of Indigenous artists.

Fontine, the Cree singer-songwriter opens up the festival performing from the full-length debut, Good Buddy. Metis fiddler, Red River Rambler will also be on the festival stage. Rockers Ribbon Skirt, led by Anishinaabe Tashiina Buswa and guitarist Billy Riley will tear up the stage with songs from their album Bite Me which Exclaim magazine named best of 2025.

There will be opening prayers by Indigenous elders and smudging ceremonies each day as well as a powwow and traditional dance workshop by Summer Bear and Friends.

Ottawa Blues FestJuly 9-19

This annual festival in Canada’s capital is called Bluesfest but the lineup features artists in a variety of genres. This spectrum of sounds is found in the Indigenous artists on the bluesfest stage which features Inuk chameleon Elisapie and others.

Reuban and the Bullhorn Singers

The collaboration between the indie rock vibe Reuban Bullock and the powwow drum the Bullhorn Singers of the Blood Kanai nation is another example of how Indigenous and mainstream music is creating a new sound.

Alicia Kayley

Alicia Kayley, Algonquin, Tahitan and Northern Tutchone, is earning a reputation as the Indigenous Adele as clips of the vocal powerhouse continue to gather likes and loves on social media.

Samantha Crain

Samantha Crain has garnered a growing and committed following of fans who adore the Choctaw artist’s confessional and ephemeral lyrics and distinctive vocal style. Her songs have been featured in several popular TV series including “Reservation Dogs,” “Resident Alien,” and Marvel’s “Echo.”

Benefitting the Boys and Girls of Lame Deer

A spectacle of some of the best Indigenous punk rockers in one great day of music for a good cause.

1876, the rockers representing the Northern Cheyenne and Blackfeet Nation are out for the benefit on this day and have a full tour beginning in the fall. Check out their website for all the details.

Weedrat is performing as well as Lo Cash Ninjas. The Ninjas are from the Navajo Nation and bring a ska influence and political edge to their pop punk sound. Many more acts are on this card and it is going to be legendary.
