The U.S. military presence in the region is nothing but a source of insecurity and division, the Iranian diplomacy stated.

On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the joint statement issued by the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as “interventionist, irresponsible, and provocative.”

“Washington’s commitment to GCC security is mere rhetoric and a distortion of reality. The U.S. military presence in the region is nothing but a burden on its people and a source of insecurity and division,” Iranian diplomacy stated.

Persian authorities also urged countries in the region to prevent third parties from using their territory to carry out military actions against Iran, noting that they have a responsibility under international law and the principle of good neighborliness.

On Friday, Iran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, also warned against Israeli military aircraft’s “movements” in some neighboring states’ airspace, calling those “a dangerous action and a threat” against the Persian nation.

Previously, on Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and GCC Secretary Jassem Al-Badawi met with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.

From Manama in Bahrain, they issued a joint statement emphasizing the need to maintain the momentum and unity of the negotiations to achieve a definitive cessation of hostilities and the common goal of preventing Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons of any kind.

They also stated that achieving lasting peace and security in the region requires confronting all forms of Iranian threats, including its ballistic missiles, drones, and support for affiliated groups in the region.

Rubio reaffirmed his country’s strong commitment to the security of the GCC member states, while the ministers reiterated their strategic alliance with Washington.
