Representatives from nearly fifty state-owned and private companies, as well as self-employed workers, the First Business Forum 2026 and the 21st ExpoCaribe International Fair began on Tuesday at the Heredia Theater Cultural Center in Holguín province, in eastern Cuba.

The trade event brings together the diverse management models present in the national economic context. This forum aims to preserve collaboration and identify opportunities area, consolidating itself as the second most important trade fair in the country despite the current challenges facing the nation.

The event, which will run until June 26, seeks to stimulate the harmonious development and integration of the different actors in the Cuban economy, create viable mechanisms for foreign investment, strengthen the logistics chain, and generate joint projects applying science and innovation.

The actions of the general program, which had the support of government officials, contribute to these goals. During the opening ceremony, Vice Governor Waldis González emphasized that the forum allows for the identification of common interests. “Every proposal generated will be a seed for the sustained prosperity of eastern Cuba,” she stated, in line with the country’s economic transformations.

The text reads, “Santiago de Cuba is preparing for a historic milestone! The 1st Business Forum 2026 opens its doors as the space our province needs: a meeting of entrepreneurs, managers, institutions and actors of local development, united under the motto of building the future.”

Also participating in the opening day were Yusmaikel Valier, from the Executive Bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party, and Maira Pérez, delegate of the Chamber of Commerce in the Southeast. The Director of Foreign Trade and event coordinator, Madelaine Cortés, presented the province’s portfolio of opportunities and new local products.

In previous sessions, the program on Wednesday the 24th included the SiCom Project, services at the Guillermón Moncada port, and the 30th anniversary of the twinning with Lamentin, Martinique celebration. This Thursday the 25th, the agenda focuses on bilateral meetings, panels on Decree Law 114, and the territory’s tourism offerings.

On Friday the 26th, professional visits, the launch of services, and a technical visit to businesses with foreign capital in the municipality of Contramaestre are planned. The schedule also includes presentations of impactful projects.

The joint venture BioCubaCafé S.A. is attending the event to consolidate its leadership and forge collaborative networks. The company’s presence, a key part of this socio-cultural event, aims to promote the region’s sustainable development through new partnerships, in a setting that has brought together more than 6,700 business leaders from 30 countries.
