Following the historic seismic activity that struck northern Venezuela on Wednesday evening, Governments across Latin America and other regions have expressed solidarity and offered support.


International Governments and regional leaders mobilize humanitarian aid and specialized search teams to support Venezuela after twin earthquakes left 32 dead people and 700 injured.

In a message broadcast by the state-owned Venezuelan Television (VTV), the Acting President Delcy Rodriguez expressed her gratitude to the Governments of Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Curaçao, United States, Jordan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Qatar, United Kingdom and Türkiye, which communicated with Venezuela to offer solidarity and support.

Rodriguez also thanked the United Nations and multilateral financial organizations, which “have already communicated through various channels with the Venezuelan Government to express their solidarity with the people” of the South American country.

Support and Aid Offers

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed this Wednesday his “concern and consternation” for the effects of the earthquakes that shook Venezuela and assured that his Government is evaluating assistance measures to support the South American country in the emergency care. In a message spread on his social media, Lula reported that he instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assess, together with the Brazilian Embassy in Caracas, the situation in Venezuela and possible aid actions that Brazil could adopt.

Text reads: “We received with deep gratitude the message of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the readiness of the Brazilian Government to accompany the people of Venezuela in this tragedy caused by the two earthquakes that occurred on June 24. We sincerely appreciate this gesture of solidarity and brotherhood between our peoples, reaffirming the historical ties of cooperation and friendship that unite us.”

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa expressed deep solidarity with the Venezuelan people and ordered the immediate dispatch of emergency assistance, promising that Ecuador will act with the urgency required by this natural disaster. Concurrently, the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry established priority communication channels, including a dedicated emergency WhatsApp line and consular networks, to assist its citizens residing in the South American nation.

Text reads: “Venezuela thanks President Daniel Noboa and the Government of Ecuador for their message of solidarity with the Venezuelan people, as well as for the offer of humanitarian assistance in response to the tragedy that occurred in our country. We value the expression of respect and cooperation towards the people of Venezuela in these difficult times.”

Similarly, Uruguay formally extended its full cooperation to Venezuelan authorities, declaring its complete willingness to assist in the arduous recovery tasks within its national capabilities.

The Uruguayan President, Yamandú Orsi, expressed his solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their authorities in the midst of the grave emergency. In a message spread on social media, he sent his support and made himself available to the Venezuelan Government to collaborate in whatever it “deems necessary.” Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it informed that the Consular Section of Uruguay in Venezuela is already in direct contact with the community of Uruguayans residing on Venezuelan territory in order to confirm their health and whereabouts after the forts tremors.

Text reads: “Following the earthquake that struck Venezuela today, Uruguay expresses its solidarity with the authorities and the Venezuelan people. We are following the evolution of the situation with attention and reiterate our readiness to collaborate in what the Venezuelan Government deems necessary.”

From the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a fraternal message of support, wishing for the rapid recovery of the injured and the successful execution of the complex search and rescue operations organized by Venezuelan civil defense forces.

In Colombia, Bogota Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan instructed the District Institute for Risk Management and Climate Change to establish immediate contact with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management to coordinate all logistical support that the Colombian capital can provide.

Text reads: “The Civil Aeronautics of Colombia activated a contingency plan after the strong earthquake in Venezuela, which affected the control systems and communications of the Maiquetía Flight Information Region (FIR). The measure will allow to coordinate aircraft diversions, provide support from the FIR of Bogotá and Barranquilla and temporarily assume the issuance of service for issuing and disseminating notices to airmen (NOTAM) while operations are restored.”

For his part, the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, expressed his support for the Venezuelan nation through a message he posted on his X account, and guaranteed that the Cuban medical personnel deployed in the area are fully mobilized to provide care to the citizens affected.

“I express deep condolences and solidarity to the Government and the brotherly people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, for the loss of life and damage caused by the earthquake”, wrote Rodríguez in his official account.

He also pointed out that the health personal of Cuba present in Venezuela “are fully mobilized and providing medical services to the affected population”.

Text reads: “I express deep condolences and solidarity to the government and the brotherly people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, for the loss of life and damage caused by the earthquake. The health collaborators of Cuba present there are fully mobilized and providing medical services to the affected population.”

Furthermore, the Government of Panama offered direct humanitarian aid, conveying feelings of fraternity and hope to the affected families.

Text reads: “With sincere gratitude we received the message of the President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, in which he expressed his solidarity with the Venezuelan people and the readiness of his country to provide humanitarian support. On behalf of Venezuela, I thank you for your expressions of support in this difficult moment.”

Other nations, including Peru, Chile and El Salvador, pledged emergency personnel, with the Salvadoran Government preparing to deploy specialized rescuers, paramedics, and essential medical supplies to the worst-hit zones.

Text reads: “On behalf of the people of Venezuela, I thank the President of Chile, José Antonio Kast, for his message of solidarity and for his expressed willingness to provide humanitarian support and cooperation in rescue efforts, following the serious damage caused by earthquakes in our country.”

The massive double earthquake, which registered magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 respectively, caused severe damage across nine Venezuelan states, including Caracas, Miranda, Carabobo, Falcón, Yaracuy, Aragua, Trujillo and Zulia.

The official toll stands at 32 dead and more than 700 injured, though authorities warn these preliminary numbers do not yet reflect the casualties trapped beneath the concrete ruins in La Guaira, sustained the most catastrophic impact and declared as a “disaster zone”.

Acting President Delcy Rodriguez declared a state of emergency, suspending classes and non-essential activitiesin the country, meanwhile he confirmed that hotels and temporary shelters are fully operational to house displaced families.
