They were traveling with eight other activists from Spain, Italy, the United States, Poland, Portugal, Uruguay, and Tunisia, who had departed overland from Mauritania with the intention of reaching Gaza.
The activists, who were traveling with another 190 people of various nationalities, were arrested for “entering the territory without completing legal procedures,” according to authorities at the time. Officials confirmed the detentions two days after their companions lost contact with them.
On Tuesday, one day before the one-month anniversary of the arrest, Benghazi’s Foreign Ministry said that the necessary legal and administrative procedures had been initiated for the deportation of the Argentine activists.
