A joint UN report exposed the devastation in southern Lebanon, where Israel’s bombings destroyed 17,891 homes and left millions of cubic meters of rubble, killing 4,192 people dead.

The United Nations Development Programme revealed that Israeli military aggression in southern Lebanon killed 4,192 civilians and caused 1.38 billion dollars in physical infrastructure damage since last October.

The rapid assessment, compiled in collaboration with the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research, exposes the devastating consequences of the Zionist military siege against the sovereign Arab territory. From March 2 to the present date, the continuous and systematic bombardments by the Israeli occupation forces also resulted in 12,171 wounded.

This joint investigation focused primarily on the strategic areas situated south of the Litani River. Specialized field researchers detected severe structural destruction in thousands of public and private properties located within the administrative districts of Bint Jbeil, Marjeyoun, Nabatieh, Tyre and Sidon, which remain under constant monitoring.

Widespread Physical Destruction

The statistical housing breakdown shows that the military offensive completely destroyed 17,891 homes in these southern municipalities. Additionally, the report verified partial damage in 5,219 residential structures and minor impacts in 18,282 buildings, generating 3.1 million cubic meters of toxic debris that block local recovery efforts.

The scientific methodology of the study involved comparing high-resolution satellite imagery captured on April 29, 2026 against baseline reference points from October 23, 2025. This technical process confirmed the massive physical impact of the Israeli bombardment campaigns across the southern border region, showing a calculated effort to displace populations.

Minister Disputes Figures

The Finance Minister of Lebanon, Yassin Jaber, classified the financial calculations of the international agency as completely inaccurate. The representative declared that the real economic losses of the country easily double or surpass the initial estimates of 1.38 billion dollars provided by the international organization.

This severe statistical discrepancy occurs because the UN evaluation excluded all physical damage inflicted on basements and subterranean facilities. Furthermore, the assessment failed to calculate the widespread destruction of vital public networks, including electricity lines, drinking water systems, telecommunications, highways and bridges destroyed by the Tel Aviv air force.

Despite the active truce agreement, the Israeli occupation forces violated the bilateral peace commitments today in southern territories. Armed soldiers launched a direct assault against Lebanese civilians who executed vital public road cleaning and clearing operations to allow the return of displaced families to their native towns.
