The Russian leader confirmed that his nation is modernizing its nuclear forces and weapons.
On Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin held a traditional meeting with the top graduates of Russia’s military academies. At the event, held in St. George’s Hall at the Grand Kremlin Palace, he once again denounced that Western countries are preparing to wage war against his nation.

“Western countries are openly talking about preparing for a war with Russia and increasing their military budgets,” he said and pointed out that his forces are succeeding in liberating Russia’s historical lands and are “practically taking control” of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region.
Regarding recent Ukrainian military actions, Putin said the attacks on infrastructure inside Russian territory are intended to destabilize society and demonstrate that President Volodymyr Zelensky is not genuinely seeking peaceful negotiations.
“The entire West is working for them. These drones arrive in large numbers, creating a certain degree of uncertainty in the actions of the Russian armed forces… This is about creating some kind of conflict potential.”

An Unstable Global Geopolitical Context
Putin said the Middle East conflict is generating geopolitical instability even across the Eurasian region, where Western countries are seeking to provoke a war against Russia.
“We see that, whereas NATO countries previously limited themselves to supporting the Kiev regime, which came to power through an illegal armed coup, they are now openly talking about preparing for war with us and increasing their budgets for military offensives,” he stated.
“The modus operandi of the so-called pseudo-democratic West is very simple: first, they create threats against our country, forcing us to take the necessary measures for self-defense and protection, and immediately afterward they accuse us of every conceivable mortal sin in order to justify their aggressive policies and actions against Russia,” Putin pointed out.

Russia Is Always Ready to Protect Its Interests
Putin said his country seeks to contribute to global peace by promoting a multipolar system of international relations and guaranteeing the security of every nation.
Nevertheless, in the event of any external or internal threat, Russia is prepared to respond promptly and effectively, he said, emphasizing that his country is modernizing its nuclear triad.
In the Russian military doctrine, the term “nuclear triad” refers to a three-pronged military force structure that enables the country to deliver nuclear weapons through land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and strategic bombers.
Putin also said his country has worked to significantly improve many types of weapons since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine.
“Let me give you one example: last year, more than 1,000 weapons systems and pieces of equipment were tested under combat conditions, including unmanned aerial vehicles with advanced guidance systems, loitering munitions, robotic systems for various purposes and much more,” he said.
