Venezuela’s Acting President urged this Monday Latin American nations to unite against imperialist hegemony during the closing ceremony of the “Homeland is America” colloquium in Caracas.
The international event, held at the prestigious Teresa Carreño Theater in the Venezuelan capital, gathered historians, intellectuals, legislators, and high-level delegations from 12 Latin American nations. The summit aimed to continue the original doctrines of continental unity, popular sovereignty, and joint regional development to counter foreign interference.
During her speech, the Venezuelan Acting President asserted that these bicentennial commemorations validate the historical capacity of the peoples of the region to defend their independence and freedom against grave historical dangers.

The Acting President emphasized the ongoing relevance of the emancipatory ideas spread by the liberating army across the continent, connecting these struggles to the integration concepts proposed by Simon Bolivar in the 1815 Jamaica Letter and the 1819 Congress of Angostura.
Rodriguez explained that the current global geopolitical dilemma is defined by the historical contradiction between United States exceptionalism and the Bolivarian project of true unity. In this sense, she called on regional Governments to construct a sovereign path in a hemisphere where they must coexist with a nuclear power, emphasizing that this coexistence must be based on mutual respect, political ethics and an identity forged through historical struggles.
Regarding foreign policy, the Acting President addressed the restoration of diplomatic relations with the United States, which began several months ago, stating that resolving bilateral disputes through formal diplomacy is the correct path to guarantee national peace, stability and Venezuelan sovereignty. Furthermore, she denounced international capital accumulation strategies targeting regional natural wealth, meanwhile she described Venezuela as an energy power whose resources must serve to guarantee social welfare for its population, which has suffered nine years of economic blockade imposed by Washington.
