The Kremlin also denounces Zelensky’s threats toward Belarus.

On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned Ukrainian drone strikes on targets in the Crimean Peninsula that left four people dead.

“Intensive work is underway to minimize the negative consequences of the barbaric actions of the Kiev regime,” he said, noting that Crimean authorities are trying to ensure fuel supplies to the population after they were suspended following the attack.

Until further notice, gasoline purchases in Crimea will be limited to security agencies and institutions involved in the operation of essential services.

Crimean leader Sergey Aksyonov confirmed that four people were killed and another 28 were injured in Sunday’s attack on the Kerch Peninsula, where the 18-kilometer bridge linking the peninsula to the rest of Russia is also located.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed strikes on a port and an oil refinery in Kerch, as well as on an oil transportation terminal at the Port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar region. He also mentioned the destruction of two Pantsir air defense batteries and four radar stations linked to S-400 missile systems.

Crimean authorities also suspended vehicle and rail traffic across the Crimean Bridge for nine hours and halted maritime transportation through the Kerch Strait.

As an alternative, authorities are advising travelers to use the highway from the Rostov region through the land corridor across southern Donbas, Zaporozhye, and Kherson, passing through the port of Mariupol on the Sea of Azov.

For weeks, however, the Ukrainian military has been shelling all roads leading to Crimea in an attempt to isolate the peninsula, where 7 million tourists were expected this year.

Kremlin Condemns Threats Against Belarus

On Monday, the Kremlin spokesman denounced Zelensky’s threats against Belarus over military equipment deployed along the border between the two countries.

“These threats are absolutely aggressive, constitute interference in another country’s internal affairs and violate its sovereignty,” Peskov said during his daily conference call with reporters.

On June 19, Zelensky warned Minsk that it had one week to withdraw Russian aircraft stationed along the border between Ukraine and Belarus that allegedly assist Russian forces.

Last week, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Moscow has no plans to involve his country in the war in Ukraine and that Belarus’ participation would be unacceptable because it would cause “more harm than good.”

“The Ukrainian military has Belarus in the palm of its hand. We are aware that our main critical infrastructure, logistics and production facilities would be targeted. As they have reported, they have identified 500 targets on Belarusian territory,” he said.
