Founded in 2014, World BEYOND War (WBW) is a global grassroots network advocating for the abolition of war and its replacement with a just and sustainable peace. We function through a decentralized, distributed organizing model focused on building power at the local level, with over 50 chapters in 40 countries and more than 120 affiliates worldwide.
A chapter is a local branch of World BEYOND War that takes on the WBW name & logo, like “Toronto World BEYOND War” or “Ireland for a World BEYOND War.” Chapters work with the staff to design and run local events and campaigns, collect signatures for the Declaration of Peace, and grow the WBW network. An affiliate, on the other hand, is an existing separate entity from WBW with its own name, brand, mission, and structure. Affiliates collaborate with WBW on shared events and campaigns, and cross-promote each other’s work.
Movement-building is a central principle of our work. We are committed to working collaboratively to build up peace and allied movements. World BEYOND War’s staff team provides tools, trainings, and resources to empower chapters and affiliates to organize in their local communities. We leverage our digital organizing skills and the global reach of our network to amplify the work of partners around the world by assisting with administrative, organizing, and technological support for coalitions and networks.

Here’s how we can support chapters and affiliates:
- Webinar hosting using WBW’s 1,000-person Zoom meeting room
- Digital organizing consultation (advice on websites, building email lists, graphic design, campaign planning, and more)
- Use of WBW’s Action Network subscription for co-hosting joint letter campaigns and petitions
- Leveraging our email list to promote events and campaigns
- Posting events to our global events calendar
- Collaborative social media posts
- Sharing articles through our blog
- And more!
Here are three examples of the types of collaborations that World BEYOND War has supported:
Pacific Peace Network
The Pacific Peace Network is a collective of individuals and organizations from Guåhan, Jeju, South Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Northern Marianas, Vanuatu, Philippines, Hawaiʻi, the U.S., Australia, and Aotearoa/New Zealand. The network has held a range of webinars, events, and actions opposing military exercises in the Pacific, calling for the closure of military bases, and urging Pacific and Pacific Rim nations to declare neutrality to help prevent a U.S.-China war.
“The Pacific Peace Network (PPN) is now into its 8th year having come out of discussions with Pasifika people attending an Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) conference in Darwin. Over that time the network has grown with strength upon strength by organisers and organisations across the Pacific. World BEYOND War is one of those groups. WBW has provided not only resources such as webinar hosting, graphic design, building a PPN website but genuine solidarity and camaraderie over the years,” said Annette Brownlie, Co-Founder of the Pacific Peace Network.
Merchants of Death
The Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal was a People’s Tribunal that launched in November 2023 and concluded in January 2025. Through testimony of witnesses and documentary evidence, the Tribunal aimed to hold four U.S. weapons manufacturers — Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and General Atomics — accountable in the commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Testimonies were provided by victims of war, military and weapons analysts, lawyers, journalists, moral philosophers, theologians, and more. Tribunal sessions investigated war crimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Gaza, and Yemen.
“During the two years in which the Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal unfolded, World BEYOND War played a pivotal role in providing digital, technological, and website support to our efforts,” said Brad Wolf, Merchants of Death Tribunal Co-Organizer. “Whether providing and facilitating a platform for our virtual audiences, designing and managing our website, or promoting our overall mission, World BEYOND War helped the Tribunal engage with individuals and groups across the globe.”
Alaska Peace Center

The Alaska Peace Center, an affiliate of WBW located in Fairbanks, Alaska, U.S., works for peace, justice, and sustainability — individually, in the community, and globally — with a commitment to nonviolent conflict resolution. The Center organizes and participates in many types of activities, including vigils, rallies, petition campaigns, educational presentations, tabling, and more. For almost seven years, the Alaska Peace Center has kept an ad on at least one public transit Fairbanks North Star Borough bus with the message “3% of U.S. military spending could end starvation on earth,” with a link to WBW’s website explaining the calculation of the 3% statistic.
“Alaska Peace Center is very grateful to WBW’s Greta Zarro for the technology help she provided us as an affiliate member of World BEYOND War. Over several interactive sessions, Greta helped us navigate problems with and limitations of our Google Groups listserv, introduced us to other possible options, and taught us how to delete an old, confusing, Facebook page after directing ‘friends’ to our organizational page,” said Heather Koponen, Board Chair of the Alaska Peace Center.
These examples illustrate the types of organizing support that WBW provides to local pro-peace, anti-war groups and networks around the globe. Do you share our abolitionist vision for a world beyond war?
