Cuba’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, expressed this Friday the gratitude of the Cuban government and people for the displays of solidarity that Mexico has offered the island through public statements and the systematic delivery of donations of material aid. On a working visit to Mexico, the Cuban official held a meeting with Raquel Serur Skeme, Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), the Embassy of Cuba reported.

According to the diplomatic representation, Vidal Ferreiro conveyed to the Mexican official Havana’s recognition of the support expressed by the Mexican government and society on Cuba’s behalf, particularly through concrete actions of material support.

At the meeting, both officials exchanged points of view on the international and regional situation. Likewise, the Cuban vice minister informed her counterpart about the effects that, according to the island’s government, the hardening of the economic measures imposed by the United States against Cuba and its population has had.

The Mexican delegation also included Helietta González Hernández, coordinator of the Undersecretary’s office, and José Luis Hernández Estrada, Director for the Caribbean of the SRE.

On the Cuban side, Ambassador Eugenio Martínez Enríquez and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Johana Tablada de la Torre, also participated.
