On Friday, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) held the draw for the main European qualifying phase for the 2028 FIFA Futsal World Cup, establishing twelve groups with highly competitive matchups.

In Group 3, Croatia, third in the last European Championship, will compete with Germany and Lithuania for the top spot. Meanwhile, Group 7 brings together Portugal, an international futsal powerhouse, along with Romania and Denmark.
Italy will face a challenge in Group 10, taking on Georgia and Kosovo, teams that have made significant progress. The Netherlands, in Group 8, will look to live up to its status as the favorites against Serbia and Andorra.
Group 11 includes Slovenia, Belgium, and Norway in a balanced competition, while Group 1, with Hungary, Sweden, and Armenia, also promises intense competition for top positions in the standings.

France, fourth at Euro 2027, will lead Group 2 alongside Moldova and Montenegro, while Poland will be the favorite in Group 5, facing Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Ireland.
In Group 6, Kazakhstan, a regular in the final rounds, will face Belarus and Albania. Ukraine will share Group 9 with Slovakia and Estonia, while the Czech Republic will be in Group 12 with Azerbaijan and Latvia.
Meanwhile, Spain was drawn into Group 4, along with Finland and North Macedonia. The Spanish team, with its winning tradition, will look to consolidate its lead in a phase that will determine the path to the World Cup.
