Pakistan announced this Thursday that United States and Iran representatives will begin peace talks this Friday in Switzerland to resolve the geopolitical crisis and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Government of Pakistan officially declared that technical bilateral negotiations will start tomorrow, June 19, on Swiss soil.

This historic diplomatic milestone follows the electronic signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, a comprehensive peace document designed to resolve the ongoing Middle East security crisis.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the landmark agreement enters into force immediately. As the initial phase of de-escalation, maritime authorities will execute the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international commercial navigation, ending the strict naval blockade previously enforced by the United States military.

The diplomatic initiative also features a high-level delegation from Tehran. Key Iranian political figures, including parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, will participate directly in the technical workgroups to secure regional stability.

Furthermore, the Pakistani leader emphasized the strong consensus supporting this initiative across the Islamic world. Swiss Diplomatic Mediation

The Swiss Government confirmed that delegations from Washington and Tehran will assemble at the Bürgenstock resort, located in the canton of Nidwalden. This neutral European venue will host the first in-person technical phase of the talks, accompanied by Pakistani and Qatari mediators.

The Islamabad Memorandum, signed on Wednesday night in France, establishes a rigorous 14-point framework to ensure long-term regional pacification. The treaty serves as a foundation to restore maritime sovereignty, promote trade, and construct a stable security architecture in Western Asia.

The primary working groups will focus on achieving an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all active fronts. The agreement specifically mandates the total cessation of hostilities, artillery fire, and aerial bombardments along the southern border of Lebanon, which has suffered intensive attacks.

Additionally, the delegations will initiate a formal 60-day negotiation period in Switzerland to resolve outstanding territorial and political disputes. The Pakistani administration expressed confidence that this diplomatic breakthrough will guarantee mutual respect and economic prosperity for all nations in the Middle East.
