THE FBU has demanded a Holyrood debate on Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) cuts it says “undermine democratic accountability.”

Published this week, the SFRS’s Service Delivery Review includes recommendations to downgrade or close a host of stations throughout the country, despite 80 per cent of respondents — including members of the public, parliamentarians, councillors and unions — voicing opposition.

Demanding a Holyrood debate before next week’s recess, FBU Scottish secretary John McKenzie said: “These cuts are a direct result of repeated budget cuts.
